Developing an end-end commissioning toolkit (Brisbane, Australia)
Brisbane North Primary Health Network (Brisbane North PHN)
The client
Brisbane North Primary Health Network (Brisbane North PHN) supports communities within Brisbane’s northern suburbs, the Moreton Bay Regional Council and parts of the Somerset Regional Council, with a total population of over 900,000.
The challenge
Having recently conducted a procurement process for Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) services, Brisbane North PHN wanted to make practical sense of the learnings through the development of a commissioning toolkit, with a particular focus on procurement.
Following its development, staff needed to be trained in the application of the commissioning toolkit.
The impact of our work
- Rebbeck collaboratively developed an end-end commissioning toolkit incorporating the MHAOD findings.
- The toolkit built on existing tools, whilst building new tools to fill in the gaps.
- Separate co-design sessions were held with both PHN staff and service providers to ensure the toolkit was easy-to-use.
- PHN staff were trained up to ensure the toolkit could be sustainably rolled out in the future and the toolkit was embedded on the PHN intranet to ensure easy future accessibility.
“I’ve really enjoyed working with you and the rest of the team at Rebbeck. I’m immensely proud of the work we did on the commissioning training and the procurement toolkit.”
